Kinhtedothi - Funds to support farmers at all levels in Son La province have been helping many farmer members build economic models suitable to actual conditions.
Aspiration to escape poverty
Participating in the movement "Farmers compete in good production and business", Mr. Lo Van Chu's family in Huoi Na village, Quynh Nhai commune is growing 1 hectare of longan, raising 5 sows and more than 100 chickens. According to Mr. Chu, in addition to developing livestock economy, since 2017, his family has invested in buying boats to buy shrimp and fish along the Son La hydroelectric reservoir. Currently, 3 boats buy an average of about 600 kg of shrimp and prawns per day, selling to traders in Hai Phong and Hanoi. After deducting expenses each year, his family earns over 500 million VND.
Not only focusing on developing the family economy, Mr. Lo Van Chu also supports many poor farmer members with seeds, capital and livestock farming experience; create regular jobs for 3 local workers.

3 years ago, with the desire to escape poverty and get rich on their homeland, Mr. Quang Van Tinh's family (Yen Chau commune) boldly approached preferential capital from the Farmers' Support Fund.
With a loan of 50 million VND from the Fund and his own capital, Mr. Tinh invested in buying 3 local breeding cows and especially 2 BBB cows - a crossbred breed imported from Belgium famous for its ability to gain weight quickly and high quality meat. After only 3 years of caring for and developing the herd, Mr. Tinh's family repaid the initial loan to the Farmers' Support Fund and earned a net profit of more than 80 million VND. This is an encouraging achievement, affirming Mr. Tinh's correct direction and the effectiveness of the farmer support policy.
Not only expanding the herd of cows, Mr. Tinh also demonstrated a comprehensive agricultural mindset, making full use of available resources. In addition, taking advantage of by-products from raising cows, he raised an additional 200m² of earthworms, using the money from selling earthworms to buy additional concentrated feed for cows. Moreover, the family also planted 3,000m² of elephant grass to proactively source green roughage, etc.
Accompanying members to develop the economy
Currently, the whole province of Son La has 170,845 farmer members, operating in 2,191 branches. Accompanying members to develop the economy, the Farmers' Work Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Son La province (formerly the Provincial Farmers' Association) focuses on supporting techniques, plant varieties, livestock, creating favorable conditions for loans, being a reliable bridge, helping members to transform production, and sustainably eliminate hunger and reduce poverty.
Last year, the whole province had 59,223 households registered for the title of excellent farmer and business households at all levels, of which 26,201 member households achieved the title. In particular, the spirit of mutual love was strongly promoted when 871 excellent farmer and business households supported disadvantaged households to improve their production.
It can be seen that the Farmers' Support Fund together with the comprehensive support policies of the Farmers' Work Committee has truly been an important "lever", helping Son La farmers to get rich, contributing to the overall socio-economic development of the province, bringing a prosperous and abundant life to the people here.
To help farmers develop their economy effectively, Mr. Bac Cam Khuyen, Head of the Farmers' Work Committee, said that the Committee has actively promoted and mobilized members to change the structure of crops and livestock towards commodities, applying science and technology to production; improve the quality of consulting, services, vocational training, job creation, and production-consumption linkage.
Along with that, the Farmers' Working Committee focuses on innovating the movement "Good farmers in production and business"; promoting linkages with enterprises supplying quality materials; supporting market connections and agricultural product consumption through the supermarket system and wholesale markets. At the same time, implementing the model "Taking farmers to teach farmers" and replicating advanced examples.
By the end of 2025, strive to provide vocational training for 1,000 members; provide consultation and job introduction for 2,000 people; mobilize 30,000 members to join cooperatives and cooperative groups; provide 350 tons of fertilizers on deferred payment and have 26,300 households achieve the title of good producers and traders at all levels.
