The Urgent Local Flooding Mitigation Project at Ban Bo An Bridge, Chieng Coi Ward; residential area of Group 11, Quyet Tam Ward; and Group 1, Quyet Thang Ward aims to clear the water flow from the Chieng Sinh area to the Nam La Stream. As of now, 17 out of 18 households have complied with the compensation and handed over their land. Only the household of Mr. Nguyen Duc Hop in Group 3, Chieng Coi Ward, with a total recovered land area of 419.4 square meters, has not complied with the land recovery decision.
Since January 2020, Mr. Hop’s family has encroached on 259.6 square meters of land managed by the City People's Committee in Ban Buon to build a corrugated iron house. Despite multiple efforts by the local authorities to mobilize, persuade, and hold dialogues, Mr. Nguyen Duc Hop’s family did not comply. The City People's Committee decided to carry out a forced eviction.
With thorough preparation and clearly assigned tasks for each member and unit, the forces involved in the eviction carried out the dismantling and inventory of all structures and assets on both the recovered land and the encroached land by Mr. Hop’s family, ensuring absolute safety for people and equipment.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Hop’s family is fully responsible for covering all costs related to the eviction, is subject to administrative penalties, must restore the land to its original state before the encroachment, and return any illegal gains obtained during the land encroachment.
The forced land recovery was carried out openly, democratically, objectively, and in strict accordance with legal regulations.
Police forces ensured security in the area where the eviction took place.
Mr. Nguyen Van Than, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee and Head of the Eviction Committee, stated: “Eviction is the final measure taken when the landowner does not agree to hand over the land for the implementation of the project.”
